A Message from a Park city transportation reservationist

Is There Uber In Park City

Hi my name is Terri, and I have been a reservationist for Hall Utah Transportation for 3 years.  If I could only give one piece of advice to someone that is planning a ski vacation to the amazing Park City, Canyons and Deer Valley Ski Resorts, it would be to pay the extra cost of pre-booking a private, professional transportation company to get to and from Park City and Deer Valley.  Of course, I would love for ski season vacationers to book with our company, but to be honest, my biggest piece of advice is to take the extra 5-10 minutes it might take to call any of the private, SUV services and book a ride to and from your vacation destination.  Here are just a few of the reasons:

1. Uber and Lyft are amazing services, but they are absolutely unreliable in the Park City area. 
2. Don't get me wrong, they are there, but there are many times that there aren't enough of them for the demand which causes surging prices and clients will end up paying more than they would if they had pre-booked with a transportation company.
3. When there is a heavy winter storm, Uber and Lyft drivers are much less likely to go out and drive due to hazardous weather conditions. (A professional transportation company will drive in all conditions and has snow tires, chains and some pretty amazing drivers that know how to handle these kind of driving conditions).
4. On weekend mornings, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, I probably receive anywhere form 5-10 phone calls from stranded skiers that cannot get an Uber or Lyft and are desperately looking for a ride to the airport.  More often than not, I have to turn them down because we are completely booked, and my drivers are already scheduled driving clients that booked in advance to the Salt Lake City Airport.  It makes me feel so bad that I cannot help them.

​One thing I can promise is that our drivers will always be courteous, our cars will always be clean, and we will be there on time no matter the weather conditions or time of day.  That peace of mind is worth the extra cost that a service like ours might be.  Think of it this way, paying the fees for changing a flight or missing your flight completely and having to book a new one is going to cost a lot more than the extra money you would save by using Uber and Lyft and then not being able to get a ride last minute.  Or even worse, being in a  2WD Uber or Lyft with a driver that signed up last week and has no idea how to navigate the Parleys Canyon winter weather snow conditions, possibly with bald tires.

I am pleading with anyone planning a trip to Park City to please book your transportation to the Park City area in advance.  Here at Hall Utah we try to make it so easy for you to book.  You can use our online booking tool, text or call us at 801-803-8988 or email your details to us at [email protected].  And if you choose not to use our service, that is totally fine, but PLEASE just call a reputable transportation company and book in advance.  It will definitely help you to enjoy your trip more knowing that you will get to and from your ski vacation on time no matter what the conditions are on the roads.
